Look What We're Sending to Annie's Attic...

That's right! Two Seaside Babes finally finished both our girls and boys monkey blankets. It took a wee bit longer than we were expecting...but heck, with Etsy and 1000 Markets orders, consignment and photographer requests, and inventory for our shows, can you really blame us? They will be shipped off tomorrow morning to Annie's Attic. We super thrilled about working with them and having our patterns available for purchase!

Photos from Framed Photography

Two Seaside Babes received our photos from Brittany Stucki of Framed Photography this afternoon and are absolutely THRILLED with the amazing job that she did. We could not have asked for more uber adorable photos than those that we received. Totally cute and unbelievably clickable. We cannot wait to see what she comes up with for the rest of our items. If you like what you see, you can check out the rest of Brittany's gorgeous work here.

Milwaukee Photo Shoot

Two Seaside Babes just came back from a much-needed mini vacation visiting our family in Wisconsin. While up there, we took advantage of the amazingly beautiful weather and got a few photos taken in Milwaukee. First we stopped by the Basilica of St. Josephat for a few photos. Then we were off to the gorgeous Summerfield United Methodist Church just west of the beautiful Lake Park on Lake Michigan. With oodles of landscaped nooks and crannies, benches, stone walls, and bold red doors, it made an amazing location for our hats. Then, we walked a few minutes down the street to the All Saints Cathedral, which had amazing flowers adoring it's courtyard. We even got to stop by the Milwaukee Art Museum, whose gigantic "wings" graced the backdrop with the hazy lake seen just off in the distance behind.

We're thrilled with how the photos turned out and hoping we can get some more photos shoots done in the near future.

There are Monkeys Everywhere!!!!

A few weeks ago, Two Seaside Babes received absolutely delightful news. We received an offer from Annie's Attic to carry our monkey blanket patterns! **jumping up and down like a fool** So not only are we receiving a substantial royalty advance, but we will be receiving royalties from all print, electronic (and potentially) wholesale pattern sales for the next 2 years (and possibly more).

The only downside was that the deadline to receive both of the blankets (they need them for professional photos) was pretty darn short. Considering how long it takes to make one, factor in having to make TWO of them, and still fulfill Etsy orders, 1000 Markets orders, working with 2 consignment shops, AND working on inventory for our busy fall shows, it's been a very busy few weeks.

Totally filled with monkeys. So every single song, limerick, and written word about monkeys has been in my head! And they won't leave!! **silently sobbing**

"5 little monkeys jumping on the bed. One jumped off and bumped his head. Mama called the doctor and the doctor said, "No More Monkeys Jumping On The Bed!"

Each blanket requires 17 monkey motifs. That's 17 heads, 17 muzzles (with embroidery), 34 eyes (with embroidery), and 34 ears (double-sided, so it's really 68). That's 102 pieces...JUST TO MAKE THE MONKEYS! And with 2 blankets...204 pieces. So we're going a little crazy with all the monkeys just laying around right now.

"Brass Monkey - that funky Monkey. Brass Monkey - junkie. That funky Monkey". The Beastie Boys

Each blanket also has 60 motifs (flowers for girls and circles for boys). So Add another 120 pieces.

"Hey, hey, we're the Monkees. People say we monkey around." The Monkees

Today we finally finished enough of the pieces to start stitching the boys blanket together. We still have to sew all of the monkey motifs for the girls blanket. But we need a momentary monkey break.
"The fortune teller looked into my eyeballs. The wrinkles on her face about to crack. She said, 'You best believe it. You ain't goin' nowhere, unless you get that Monkey Off your back'."

We're hoping to get both of the blankets finished and mailed off to Annie's Attic before the end of the week.'s been a long few weeks.

Two Seaside Babes Lovies Are Back

That's right! Two Seaside Babes has finally brought back our lovies! A number of months ago, our dearly beloved yarn had been discontinued. We struggled for quite some time finding a suitable replacement. We found one that creates just as lovely of a soft and fluffy texture as the old ones, but this one is thicker (so it holds it shape much better). We added the larger blankets (baby, toddler, and adult) some time ago, but had been holding off on the lovies.

So we've begun listing them and are thrilled with the response we've gotten so far. They are the perfect size, 15" x 15", and they are great for parents looking for a comforting and warm security blanket for their children. It's also amazing for photographer's looking for a soft, fluffy, and cuddly prop for newborn/infant photo shoots. It can also be great as a doll blanket for that babe that just loves to be a mini mommy.

We have oodles of colors available and they are each only $20.

Cammack Station Photo Shoot

The weather was beautiful here yesterday. So we decided to head out to Cammack Station in Muncie, Indiana for a quick photo shoot for Two Seaside Babes. And when I say quick, I do mean quick. My 3 and 4 year old model's attitudes quickly determine the duration of the shoots. But they were well behaved. The lighting was great. The dresses were adorable (which, by the way, can be found at Addison Ava on Etsy).

Cammack Station is this cute, but extremely tiny stop off the path on the way to Muncie. It's one of those towns, that if you blink, you totally missed it. Although if you did miss it, you might want to turn back around just to check it out. It's set up like '50s America with an old-fashioned eatery complete with gas pumps, a Mayberry-esque police car, and bright, bold, and colorful ads galore. The stop made for an absolute perfect backdrop for the shoot.

And this is what we got:

Our Purchase from Monster Bug Blankets

My oldest daughter is going to be turning 5 this sadness there (it's happening WAY too fast!). Since it's been such a rough year for us, I wanted to do something extra special for her. So I requested a custom applique shirt from Jen of Monster Bug Blankets. My only requests. A horse. And the color blue. My oldest daughter is so easy to please. Now my youngest is another story. But I'll save that for another post.

Well, this is what Jen came up with. Isn't it just the cutest? I know that my daughter is going to absolutely LOVE it! And with her Back to School Sale, she's offering $5 off hoodies and $3 off tees through August. So I ended up getting this one for $15 with $2 S/H. What a deal! I can't wait to see my daughter's expression when she opens this present. All of Jen's hard work will definitely pay off with that one!

Our New Business Cards

We received our new business cards a few days ago and we were totally thrilled with how they came out! The past few times Two Seaside Babes has gone with argraphics21 on Etsy to print out our cards and we cannot even begin to explain our immense satisfaction in choosing Robert. His cards are so thick and shiny and we get oodles of compliments on them.

As always, we went with our basic design on the front...a faint image of Haystack Rock that we use for all of our graphics. It includes our store name, tag line, and dot com. We decided to change the back this time though...adding more photos of our products (including our Buckle Beanie, Buckle Newsboy, Flapper Beanie, photography prop blankets, beaded necklaces, and striped visor beanies) and removing the "Custom Orders Welcome" from the front and adding it to the back. We can't even tell you how many people tell us how smart of an idea it was to put our product photos on the back. How many times have you picked up someones business card, and for the life of you, you cannot remember what the heck they made? To us, it's pretty much wasted advertising space if you don't use the back of a business card. Well, this is what we got. For $45 (including shipping and handling...which, by the way, is insanely FAST!) we got 1000 custom (we designed it ourselves), color, front AND back cards. We LOVE them...and so do our customers! ;-)

A Taste Of Fishers

Two Seaside Babes was a little wary of this event. We had yet to hear of any feedback in regards to past seasons for the event, but we knew the area would be great for our products. The morning started off horrible...I broke a table leg and had to quick run and get a new one. Then, just as my helpers left for the day, the skies opened up and the winds came blowing. The vendors were unprepared for the torrential downpour (barely any of us had our canopy sides up yet) and the howling winds (one vendor's tent blew away). Vendors were silently cussing to themselves (although some were out loud). But you can't really blame them. One vendor specialized in painted glassware and lost a heart-breaking amount of inventory. She packed up and left before the storm even ended.

But luckily it didn't last long. It drizzled on and off for a few hours afterwards. But it didn't keep the crowds away. They wanted their food!

Overall, the day may have started out bad, but it ended fabulously. Two Seaside Babes did almost twice as much as we were hoping for...making it our 2nd best show ever! We're thinking the cold weather might have had something to do with it though ;-) Our best sellers?

Our Adult Buckle Oatmeal, Black, and Charcoal (our best-selling local colors)
Our 4T - Preteen Buckle Newsboys (pink of course)
Our Infant Flapper Visor Beanies (light pink/white and chocolate brown/pink as always)
Our Silk/Bamboo Headbands (we sell oodles of these in Fishers for some reason...we're not complaining...just stating)

Now, we're taking 5 weeks off from our shows. In the meantime, we're hitting our inventory full-force to prep for our busy fall season. Our next show will be the Tipton County Pork Festival in Tipton, IN September 9 - 11. Come on out and see us, we will have amazing fall items just for our local customers!
